This is to the Branca Family.
I did not know Ricci however, my daughter knew him from school and she graduated with the 07 class that Ricci would have graduated in. I was brought to tears when his name was called and his parents were given his graduation cap & gown along with his year book. It saddens me to see one lose a life due to drunk drivers! I am thankful for Patmos so that "our" children have a place to go and hang out and be able to be off the streets. In todays society this is well needed! God bless you Branca family!

Hi-i am a mom who has taken my son to Patmos park a few times and will many more times in the future. Its a wonderful safe place for kids to go and be themselves. Reading the memory wall in memory of Ricci touched me and brought me to tears. But knowing someone so young has touched so many lives is an amazing wonderul gift from god. It is truly impressive. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Ricci maybe gone but he will never be forgotten. God bless.

I'm glad the skatepark is goin good. I haven't even been at patmos since before opening day. Spent some long HOT hours help, good look with keeping it up, I'll be sure to stop by. I'm sure Ricci would have loved this park, he is proud.

I often drive by the memorial site on my way into OC. I knew what had happened, but I never knew Ricci. It seemed as though every time I passed by the memorial, there was another item added in remembrance of him. Until today, I knew nothing more about him than seeing that memorial and what had been said in the news. I had also heard of a skate park in EHT, but until today, just now, I had no idea where it was. The story of Ricci\'s life and his work on the skate park is amazing and inspiring... he obviously touched many people. When I finally do come to the park, I will think of him and say a prayer for his family and friends.

Hey...I worked at EHTHS and Ricci was in a few classes of mine - I was an aide...He had a rough year his Freshman year...I always remember htat he had spirit and heart, tho. He never gave up. Through the tough times, he kept going and trying his best. He was sweet and funny and kind. I was shocked when I saw he had died. My daughter is a Sophomore this year and when she started last year I thought about Ricci a lot. She has a tough time, too...but she never gives up either. I was so happy to hear he had turned his life over to God...what a blessing to have that peace. I work with kids at my church and will try to get some of them out to Patmos Park...Kim

To Ricci's family, I did not know Ricci very well, truthrully, but I do know one thing, and that is no one gets taken out without a reason. God knows and sees. My friend's son, Justin, rode with Ricci all the time, and Ricci was like a brother to him. a year ago i would drive buy the memorial site during my wawa bus run and saw the bike there. i was sorry to see that someone was killed, little did i know it was RICCI! Though i never met him, going by there this year since joining the PATMOS family, it shed a whole new lite and i was in shock, just as if i new him!!! I have been bringing my family to Ocean City from Pittsburgh, PA for almost 15 years and my sons and I bike over the bridge yearly around the shores. This year we came across the memorial and I felt compelled to find out more of Ricci's story.

Ricci, we came to your memorial to sing Happy Birthday and it proved to be too emotional for little Eddie, he misses you sooo much. It is the first time Jen and I saw his emotions come to face and we didn't know how much he really knew you. He told us of funny things you did and said and how nice you were to him when he was small. I wanted you to know you have touched so many people young and old. We will never forget you. We prayed in my car before leaving the site that your life will continue to inspire people, even though you have been taken from us. We are the lucky ones for having known you!!! We also thanked God for giving us Sherri and Rick because they gave us YOU!!

i did not know him but someone had put a picture of him on my car. i almost thought it was my son from a distance. anyhow i am sad that he lost his life from someone drinking and driving. i am always a desinated driver. (i donot drink) i ask anyone and say it all the time please dont drink and drive. just call me i never care what the time of day is just call but dont drink and drive. so if you ever know someone that needs a ride just call me 926-3683. i think we need to have the device in every car not just for ones that have already been charged with dui or dwi. so when anyone gets in a car if they are drunk the car will not start. it should be as importmant as having good tires on your car for example. my prayers are with you.

Ricci man i miss meeting you at the shoprite in sp to go to mcdonalds and ride the same old somerspoint spots then ride to oc for no reason, exept to sit in the mcdonalds parking lot, ha remember that time we rode all the way to sea isle from our houses and it took us like 4 hours and we got there and we got kicked out before we even got to ride, ill never forget that. hey guy. i came to a class one sunday not long after Ricci died. i didnt know him personally but from what people have told about me he was an amazing person. and i remember one thing you said in that class "he was in the middle and the car hit him, not two ones on the side, becuase they werent ready to come to him yet. and ricci was, because he had given his life to god. im not a christian anymore. i used to be, but i lost faith, and i just thought to let you know that what you said that day affected me and made me think about god again. thank you. and god bless the branca family. im sorry for your loss

I, among many others did not know Ricci, however you have all been in my thoughts and prayers since this tragedy struck you.

Words cannot begin to express how devasted I was for you when I heard the news of this senseless accident.

I also lost my son, just last November, yet another victim of a drunk driver.

My youngest son works in Ocean City and I frequently drive by his ever growing memorial and each time I do so, I am saddened for you his family, his friends and the entire community that loved him.

I wanted to reach out to you, to assure you that Ricci is with God now but will always be with you, just not in the earthly sense that we are accustomed to. Look for him and believe it is him when you see signs. It is not a coincidence.

If there is anything I can do, please let me know. Even just a shoulder to cry on, a shoulder of understanding as I too walk in your shoes, shoes that no parent should ever have to wear.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies and prayers for your family.

ricci was a good kid.never caused trouble all he wanted to do was ride his bike.or when i was around ride mine.im going to miss seeing him waddling threw the hallways in school with his big bookbag. he always had a smile on his face and when id see him id smile. ricci just had the ability to do that to people.

Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to know Ricci. I grew up with his parents and we lost touch; and, I knew some of his family I must say are great people.
I am writing this to them in that my heart and my prayers goes out to the family. I saw the benefit card and was shocked and sadden. I have two children, son and daughter, and could not imagine such a loss.

"Live Your Life Out Loud" is an inspirational quote that comes to mind when I think of Ricci. He wasn't the kid on the sidelines wanting to join in. He was the one leading the way, fearless and smiling, living his life out loud. I am so glad that my son Ryan was fortunate enough to have Ricci in his life, as a friend and BMX mentor. Our family loved Ricci. Not a day goes by without Ricci in our thoughts and the Branca family in our prayers. I hope creating a legacy through Patmos Park and ensuring he lives on in memory gives peace to all those who miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Branca family. I didnt know Ricci, but a friend of mine in Somers Point sent me this link and I just had to send my condolences. I too, have lost a child. My daughter Shay was killed by a hit and run driver on 9/18/04, she was only 15. My heart goes out to ur family and pray that u find the peace and comfort u need to make it day to day. I will always have the memories of when we were young! It seemed like my family lived at your house. I always looked forward to the BBQ's with you and Aunt Sherry and everyone! We were so close back then it was like no matter what we were together, until my mothers car crash i remember being upset when we stopped hanging out and coming over. Then that day the phone rang and it was Aunt Sherry asking if we could have a BBQ and hang out i was so excited!! i couldnt wait to see you!!! That BBQ never came and i seen you for the first time in about 5 years at the worst place... you were the best cousin and you always will be I love you!!

Seeing your still active myspace account, and all these comments are really emotionally taxing, even still, As your passing was a month ago. It's depressing to go into Ocean City, and have our usual crew short by one person every night. I can't express how much it meant to have you in our tight knit circle.

I won't forget how on the day of the incident, You and I went to Sea Isle skatepark, but we couldn't get in so we just rode the EHT track. I dropped you off home, and left to do my usual things. I heard you were coming to Ocean City and wondered "why didn't he ask for a ride?" You never really were needy.

I still crack a smile when I think about how you used to land bunnyhops real harsh and your hair would go into your eyes, and you'd whip it back real fast.

I'm buying a new bike for park riding, and designing a a graphic for my frame which I am rawing, and then clear coating over your graphic.

You'll continue to live in our hearts, and we all miss you.

To the Branca family,

On evening of July 14th I was sitting on my porch, in Ocean City, when I saw police cars racing toward the Longport bridge; I had a feeling that something terrible had happened. You don’t know me nor did I ever have the pleasure of meeting your precious son Ricci; I am writing because I was deeply affected when I heard about your sons senseless passing.

I will not send the usual platitudes for I’m sure none apply and none will bring you comfort. The truth is the pain of losing a child is a pain that will remain with you forever, however, time will help...it will never heal this wound but with time your pain will not be so close to the surface. I felt compelled to write after I passed the memorial erected in memory of your son on Ocean Drive today. When I saw it, I broke down for I can relate; I also lost a son, my son, Michael was killed in 1988, he was only 18 years old. My heart goes out to you and to your entire family for I know the pain you are experiencing is all consuming. Please know that you are not alone, that your pain has become my pain, that we are united through our shared loss and that there are others out there who can help you through your grief.

One thing I can do, that I know will truly be helpful to you is letting you know that there’s a wonderful support group for those of us who have lost a child to an early death in Somers Point called The Compassionate Friends. My only advice, and hope, is that at some point you will reach out for help, you need not go through this alone. The Compassionate Friends meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Grace Lutheran Church (rear entrance) at 7:30 PM, Dawes Avenue and Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ. They have been a life line to so many of us who find ourselves drowning in our grief.

I am sending you my deepest heartfelt condolences, I am truly sorry for your loss.

Ricci,was the best, loving caring boy i ever met. we rode together all the time. I remember when he went across the street to get me a drink because i didnt feel like walking over, and he brought me back a gaterade and im fructose intolerant so we sared it together, and from then on we sared all our drinks together or the iceys from the ice cream truck that came every tuesday during the races. When I think of Ricci what pops out at me most is the night I got to work with him on the dirt jumps out back. It was raining off and on and we where under dead line to get them built. “Because you know we only had a week to build em”. This night really blessed me because around 12:00am when it really started pouring the rest of the locals showed up. And we all took shelter under the deck of the quarter pipe.--- And it felt good. Because with out saying why we were all doing it - we new. --- It is for the love of riding. --- That’s the Ricci I remember the one pushing for what he loves. Well, needless to say we all pulled together and “GOT-R-DONE”

Now were here with out him. But I want you to have hope. The week after the Jamfest we had a BBQ, and the core locals showed up about 15 (and I bought about 50 ice cream bars. I still remember tring to get Ricci to eat two at a time because I didn’t want to bring them home.) Well that day Ricci gave his life to Jesus Christ. So I say this with confidence Ricci will spend eternity in paradise. My friend gave me this verse yesterday that helped me make a little more sense of this.
